Marybeth Niederkorn, Poet Extraordinaire

(1983 - )

Ms. Niederkorn became a poet ''extraordinaire'' by looking up the word up in the dictionary and realizing it applied to herself. ''I made my own certificate with crayons and macaroni. But if anyone asks, I got it from the International Poets Extraordinaire Guild Local 507.'' At her acceptance ceremony, which took place at the Applebee's on Route 10, she noted, ''Life is a bowl of cherries because it has a bunch of fleshy tart stuff that you have to get through so you can roll the pit around in your mouth and then spit it at your sister.''
