Michael Shaler (1974 - )
A former teacher at work on a novel, Mr. Shaler says, ''The end of baseball is no closer now than it was in 1869, when most fans became outraged when the first openly professional team --- the Cincinnati Reds -- took the field. On the other hand, the fact that a former baseball owner left the sport may yet bring us the end of Earth as we know it. The world was a safer place when G.W. Bush ran the Texas Rangers.'' He writes poetry because it's fun.
