Bruce Williamson b. 1922
Retired reporter Mr. Williamson worked in radio, television, and print for 44 years. He served in the Air Force in World War II, starting as an enlisted man and getting his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant-navigator. ''I wanted to be a pilot,'' says Williamson, "but it didn't take long for my commanding officer to rule that out. In a training flight, I was told to go into a spin and pull out after 10 spins. I did about 20 spins and just before we crashed into the ground, my Instructor sitting behind me took over and pulled us out of the spin! So I ended up being a navigator.'' He is the author of The Verse Things I Ever Did (1994), a collection of humorous poems.
