Nick Greenwood b. 1957
As a result of his parents’ abject failure to achieve great wealth and endow him with a trust fund, says Mr. Greenwood, ''my dreams of slughood on a stipend were thwarted.'' Never one to give up easily on a dream, however, he chose the best available option and went to work for the federal government, where he has enjoyed a rewarding career. ''Despite the many opportunities for excitement and personal expression afforded by a career in civil service,'' says Mr. Greenwood, "I periodically call on my vast reserves of creative energy and write poetry as a way of expressing my deep and profound appreciation for the beauties of this magnificent world we inhabit. Plus I'm too lazy to write a novel.'' Mr. Greenwood also plays punk folk music in bars as a means of getting good beer and meeting bad women.
