Beth Staas b. 1930

After Ms. Staas raised five kids, she found it a relief to get back to teaching. College freshmen may not be edgy or hip but they can inspire and just nail it, providing fodder for the wacky return. She can pretend that she is still among ‘em, tossing her long blond tresses, lying about her weight and age and drinking gallons of coffee while trying to keep up. Then back to the monitor to write, write, write.
