STOPPING BY FOR FOODS ON SUPER BOWL SUNDAY

by Erica Angle-Newman

WHOSE foods these are I think I know.
His ass is on the sofa though;
He begged me, so I'm shopping here
While he enjoys the half-time show.
The checker girl won't think it queer
For me to purchase so much beer,
Potato chips, and Hostess cakes--
I come here every goddamned year.
She gives the grocery bags a shake
And three Corona bottles break.
The only other sounds the drench
Of Krispy Rice and Corny Flakes.
These foods are pricey; love ain't cheap.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before my Jeep.
And miles to go before my Jeep.
