THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE PULLS THE WRONG TRAIN
by David Thornbrugh
CULTS are new to Thomas the Tank Engine.
He just wants to sleep on the couch.
But the little Indian shuttle engine
with the nose ring gives him special vitamins.
He doesn't remember anything after that.
In the morning, Thomas isn't beautiful blue any more,
he's gold and silver and webbed with meaning
like a cracked amphorae, but Thomas
has never heard of Greece, either.
Thomas likes to carry all the young girls
but he doesn't understand why his water tank hurts,
why his smoke stack droops.
Thomas the Tank Engine won't remember the sixties.
