PONDERING A LONG WEEKEND
by Steven McDougal
I will not walk to my car,
I will not happily skip,
I will not stop at a bar
'though I'd love a boozy sip.
I will happily dance,
Happily dance to my car and away;
A couple of days not taking a stance
On anything in any way.
Consulting parties are on the war path,
The state will not engage.
The feds are having a good laugh
At hot air scrawled across a page.
Consultations are not concurring.
Bureaucrats are noisily bleating.
Smoke arises from gnashing teeth obscuring
The moderate pose I'd hoped to be seeing.
I will happily dance,
Happily dance to my car and away;
A couple of days not taking a stance
On anything in any way.
