Cherry Pie

by Stephen Du Marais

SHE pulls off her sweater
like leaves
whirling back into the sky,
after I have spent
a long,
wasted,
hour collecting them
into a pile.

She is that pile.

That cold, musty,
humid pile
a-whirl inside
with
flight and desire and
bashful trickery.
