Paper Is A Poet's Best Friend

by ern modern

LET'S say writing is like drinking,
The wordsmith a boozehound, a poem
The lush's treacle treat, 2 cents a
Thought, 5 cents per bottle returned.
No, no, that doesn't add up.

Let's say writing is like eating,
The novelist a glutton, a short story
Lunch, ruminating a twice-thought rehash,
Acid paper reflux, indigestion.
No, no it's too alimentary.

Let's say writing is like shitting,
Writer's block constipation, brainstorming
Diarhhea, ''best words in their best order,''
So a poem must be wiping one's ass.
That's right, I just shat and wiped my ass.
