Be My Little Pilchard

by Rod Stone

BE my little pilchard, you old bag
Give me a wink whilst I adjust my drag
If you do all this for me
Things will go most swimmingly
Nothing in the world will make it sag

Be my little pilchard, you old bag
Even though I cannot shake a leg
Take but once this little jig
Love will grow grotesquely big
Never more I promise not to nag

Be my little pilchard, you old bag
Flash a fin now, do not be afraid
In your journey up the coast
Please do join me for a toast.
Better even than a scrambled egg

Be my little pilchard, you old bag
Though I wear an eye patch and a peg
I am not a lonely lout
Quietly now, no need to shout
And for permission, here's my fishing tag

Be my little pilchard, you old bag
Your silver has seduced me with its snag
Take me for one little spin
Have pity as you reel me in
And we dance around in a zigzag
Be my little pilchard, you old bag.
