An Ode to Odes

by Quint McGuinley

TO you, the world's most excellent king of honors,
I'd like to bestow my gratitude.
For without you, the greatest of three-letter monikers,
I'd be all intellect. . . and no attitude.

You're a guide to those adrift in metaphorical seas,
The light that leads us to port.
My dedications to loved ones would lack inspiration.
As far as buses go, I'd be riding the short.

So bear with me when I'm struggling to find the right words,
For I may need you to title poor work
But remember that you never go unnoticed,
You're the Spock to my Captain Kirk.
