Manic-Depression in the Office

by Perrie Layton

MANIA is a wonderful thing,
It helps her get work done.
But when depression takes over
She is loved by everyone.

A happy song we colleagues sing,
When a downer she becomes
Silence hovers inside her door
Bringing peace to everyone

Mania creates new ideas
and lots of work -- What fun!
But not for me she tells the boss
That's for them, I've got to run.

There're drugs that help, we tell her,
As our patience becomes undone.
''Why?'' says she. ''The boss likes me,
My creativity has just begun.

''I'm designed for better things''
Her mania's song has sung.
Then her depression takes over
And conspirators we become.
